Earlier this week my manager announced that I would be resigning from my current position in a project meeting.
The response was unexpected to me, nothing. Not a word was spoken in the meeting. One of the engineers did give me a slightly surprised look. That was it.
The QA leader talked to me after the meeting. He's a smart guy and a contractor. He opined that the reaction spoke volumes. Nobody at my level is surprised that I choose to leave. The environment is not fun anymore to a lot of people and those people are leaving.
A few of my colleagues who have worked for this company for over ten years have candidly disclosed that they are considering pursuing outside opportunities.
I thought it was just me who is fed up. It turns out that I am not alone. There's comfort in that, and I also feel bad for those who are staying. It used to be a really good place to work.
